Our son Hero was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) on December 3, 2012. He had been a healthy little boy just nine days earlier, but went downhill so quickly he was at risk for dying before getting stabilized. Luckily, he did get stabilized and began a two-year treatment plan that included very few breaks.
Hero was treated in Sapporo, Japan and went into remission in January 2013. He completed inpatient treatment and was released from the hospital on March 19, 2013. He continued maintenance chemotherapy, with his last treatment on December 5, 2014! He had his first post-treatment check-up 11 days later and we were so excited to hear the doctor say, “Everything’s normal.” We pray to hear that over and over and over again.
We are very thankful for all the research over the last few decades that made it possible for our son’s healing. We hope with the help of so many supporters and organizations like Cookies for Kids’ Cancer there will be many more breakthroughs in research. We've seen many prayers answered along the way and continue to pray against relapse and for complete healing.
