ASICS America Accelerates Hope With Second Annual Cookies for Kids' Cancer Partnership to Fund Pediatric Cancer Research

Backing the Fight for a Second Year, Collection Now Includes Apparel and Accessories Alongside Gel-Noosa Tri™ 9 Shoe

Aug. 22, 2014 IRVINE, Calif - Back by popular demand, ASICS America will again join forces with Cookies for Kids' Cancer, a non-profit foundation committed to raising funds for research to develop new, improved treatments for pediatric cancer, the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S., to launch their second collection in honor of Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. After the debut collection sold out in a matter of days, ASICS has expanded this year's collection to include an ASICS favorite, the GEL-Noosa Tri™ 9 and for the first time, apparel and accessories.

Available throughout the month of September, the ASICS Cookies for Kids' Cancer collection will include the new ASICS GEL-Noosa Tri™ 9 running sneaker and a brand-new line of apparel and accessories for men and women. Known for its vibrant design, the Cookies for Kids' Cancer edition GEL-Noosa Tri 9 is family friendly, available for men, women, kids (sizes 1 - 7) and toddlers (sizes K10-K12 and 1-2). To ensure you can show your support of the cause from head to toe, this year's collection features tech tees and ASICS' beloved Quick-Lyte sock with gold coloring throughout, an ode to the official color of Pediatric Cancer.

Building upon its inaugural partnership with Cookies for Kids' Cancer in 2013, ASICS has expanded its commitment to raising money for pediatric cancer research with a guaranteed donation of $10 for each pair of shoes, $2 for each apparel item and $1 for each accessory purchased from the collection in September 2014 (Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month), with a guaranteed donation of $100,000, up to $150,000.

When 2-year old Liam Witt was diagnosed with cancer in 2007, his parents Larry and Gretchen Witt were shocked to learn of the lack of effective treatments for pediatric cancers due to lack of funding. Larry and Gretchen pledged to change this by funding research that could help save Liam's life. With the help of 250 volunteers, Liam's parents implemented the first Cookies for Kids' Cancer bake sale. The crew baked 96,000 cookies, raising more than $400,000 with this first batch. Sadly, Liam lost his battle with cancer in January 2011, but Cookies for Kids' Cancer continues in his honor. To date, Cookies for Kid's Cancer has held more than 5,500 grassroots events in all 50 states and 16 countries and funded over 4 dozen research grants to advance the development of safe, more effective childhood cancer treatments. Cookies for Kids' Cancer supports five of the nation’s leading pediatric cancer centers and matches, dollar for dollar, the federal allowance per child enrolled in the Children’s Oncology Group's Phase I & Pilot Consortium.

ASICS' Cookies for Kids' Cancer collection is the first of the brands' 2014 fall charity initiative, Accelerate Hope. In October and November, ASICS will launch two additional collections to benefit past charitable partner Right Action for Women (RAW), and the Prostate Cancer Foundation, respectively.
