Rena Sussman


Rena Sussman 



Rena Sussman was born in Brooklyn, New York, raised on Long Island and has lived in New York City for more than four decades. She attended the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology earning an Associate's Degree in Display and Exhibit Design and Textile Surface Design. In 2013 she fulfilled a life-long goal earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Textile Surface Design. Ms. Sussman is an Adjunct Associate Professor at FIT, teaching Textile Surface Design, Fabric Styling and Internship Studies. 


Rena’s art is influenced by her background in textile design and upbringing. She develops pieces by fusing recurring motifs and techniques used in tradition textile design with color theory, mixed mediums and nature. 


Ms. Sussman's work has been shown at Williamsburg Historical Society, Gallery 230, DUMBO, and The Livingston Gallery at Empire State College. She has also been featured in multiple shows at the Museum at FIT and The Lynn and Carl Goldstein Gallery at FIT. 


Rena Sussman is passionate about giving back to causes that are important to her. In 2012, Ms. Sussman created four pieces of art to donate to the American Cancer Society's Mothers of the Year 2012 Awards Luncheon which raised money for education and research.
