The Fast and The Fouriers were supposed to run Ragnar Trail Vermont in July 2020, a 120-ish mile relay, to raise funds for Cookies for Kids' Cancer. Though Ragnar has cancelled Trail Vermont this year, that doesn’t mean we can’t run and fundraise. We will be running all day on June 23rd, raising some funds and having some fun while doing it.
This is a difficult time for Cookies for Kids' Cancer, since they have had to cancel their biggest fundraising event and several smaller, grassroots events. But kids still get cancer. Childhood cancer does not stay home during a pandemic. It does not discriminate based on race, religion or gender.
Childhood cancer gets less than 4% of the federal budget for cancer research. Children's developing bodies need specialized, non toxic treatments that can kill cancer cells without causing life limiting and long lasting side effects. When children do survive cancer, 2 out of 3 times, they have to live with severe side effects including loss of cognitive abilities, loss of executive function, loss of limbs, and secondary cancers.
Cookies for Kids' Cancer, a national 501(c)3 non-profit, is committed to raising funds for research to develop new, improved treatments for pediatric cancer, the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S.
As of October 2017, nearly $15 Million in grants have gone to support the research of our partner centers for new therapies and treatments for childhood cancers, the leading disease killer of children in the US. Since our inception in 2008, Cookies for Kids’ Cancer has funded 100 childhood cancer research grants, resulting in 37 promising new treatments in clinical trial, available to children TODAY.
