Frequently Asked Questions

How much should I charge for cookies and other baked goods at my bake sale?

There are two approaches. We encourage you not to set a price for your baked goods, but to simply suggest to visitors that they give a generous donation. For example, if someone asks, "How much for a cookie?" you can respond, "You can give whatever you would like to donate for children with cancer." This will encourage generosity and often more than what you might earn by setting prices.

Some locations may require or be better suited for setting a price for baked goods. For example, schools or events have other beverage vendors or where people are in a rush and simply want to grab and go. In that case, set a minimum price that seems appropriate. You might set a price for a single cookie and offer a value for a half dozen, or a dozen. Just keep you're pricing simple so volunteers and visitors can quickly total transactions. It also simplifies making change.

Can people write checks when they want to donate?

Money raised will be used to support the efforts of doctors and scientists who are working to create less toxic and more effective treatments for children battling cancer at comprehensive cancer like Memorial Sloan-Kettering, Dana Farber, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, St Jude, Texas Children's, and other world class centers across the country. Our hope is that with your support we will help to save the lives of many innocent young children and to push science closer to the end goal…a cure.
