Get Moving for Childhood Cancer. Join "Team Good Cookies."
"Team Good Cookies" is a great way to support Cookies for Kids' Cancer, giving runners, walkers, bikers, swimmers, golfers and just about anyone a simple way to raise funds for childhood cancer research while they walk, run or train.
The concept is simple -- Run a Race. Or Plan a 5K. Or walk with friends and collect pledges per mile. It's up to you! By inspiring others to donate towards your efforts as you train, you can raise critically needed funds for research to find safer, more effective treatments for children with cancer.
Whether training to run an upcoming race or wanting to organize your own 5K, golf classic, dodgeball tournament, etc.
REGISTER with us in advance. When you register, we add your race to our events calendar, help you spread the word and guide you along the way. Also, you'll receive a personalized fundraising page where others can make secure online donations to Cookies for Kids' Cancer in your honor. Our fundraising pages make it easy to collect pledges while training to run a race, walking or planning an event.
Spread the Word
Bring friends and family along on the journey. If you're organizing an event, invite them to participate. If you're running in an existing race, invite them to cheer you on and inspire them to donate towards your efforts. Send emails and post on social media that you are moving to raise funds for Cookies for Kidsí Cancer. However you get involved, you'll need people to participate, so spreading the word is key.
TIP: Create a Facebook group or page for your team or event. It's a great way to get the word out, as well as recruit support and keep participants updated with key information. Keep the inspiration high by sharing photos, team updates and share the link to your fundraising page OFTEN.
Be sure to take lots of pictures before and during your race or tournament. Share them with us and continue to post pictures and follow-ups to keep inspiring others to donate and get involved even after your race is over. Your efforts can encourage people to donate online, run a race or sign up to join Team Good Cookies too! Congratulate yourself for hard work and fun while raising money for childhood cancer research.
Inspiring Good Cookie Stories...
Inspired by a family friend's battle with pediatric cancer, high school student Abbey Rogers decided to host a 5K and bake sale fundraiser for her school project in 2012. This project has now turned into an annual community-wide event that raised $35,000 in its first two years alone. Abbey continues to inspire friends, family and groups around Charlotte to join the fight against pediatric cancer. Her 3rd annual event was just held in April 2014.
In 2013, family and friends of 7-year-old Lucy Waldeisen, one of the kids who inspire us, hosted the inaugural Lucy's Light Dodgeball Tournament in Belgrade, MT. Teams in themed costumes joined the fun, and that first event raised an incredible $10,000 for childhood cancer research. The second annual event was even bigger and better, with 35 participating teams helping raise $15,000!
In May 2014, a group of 3rd and 4th grade students from Highlands Elementary in Boise, ID hosted their very first Good Cookie 5K and Bake Sale to raise funds for childhood cancer research. Organized by class mom Kristin Smith, the students raised $5,000 and even ran through the "Be A Good Cookie" finish line together!
