Nicholas

Nicholas was diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma non-Hodgkin's in November of 2013. It was a nightmare for our family since he was 5 years old and in kindergarten at the time. He had a tumor the size of a football twisted near his ureter where it intertwined into his large and small intestines. He did 4 rounds of chemo and spinal chemo that caused the tumor to shrink about 40%. They went in to do another biopsy and removed the tumor in January 2014. 4 more rounds of high dose intense chemo followed after they noticed some small activity in the tumor. Nicholas has been in remission for 14 months and we pray everyday that it stays that way. We have learned to take one step at a time. As a family we have been through a rough journey and Nicholas is an amazing 7 year old boy. He fought very hard throughout his journey and even at his worst; he always had a smile on his face. He taught me as a mother how strong someone can be. He is truly our trooper and hero. We live with a cloud over our heads but we get through it each day at a time as a family. Now Nicholas likes to help others in raising awareness for childhood cancer. Go gold!
