Dana Boutwell

I am an entrepreneur and business owner of “Fresh Healthy Vending,” which provides healthier vending options for both private and public schools. My husband, Brian, and I are parents to four active boys. Life at the Boutwell home is nothing short of busy! Being a mom is one of my favorite “jobs,” so I love being able to serve as a room mom, team mom and a spokesperson for Cookies for Kids Cancer.

I was fortunate to be able to use my position as the 2013 Mrs. South Carolina Strawberry Festival Queen as a platform to raise over $41,000 for childhood cancer research. My desire to help this cause came after my friend’s son was diagnosed with Leukemia at age two. I was shocked to learn cancer is the number one disease killer in children. I had to get involved.

September 2014 will mark the second annual “30 Days for a Cure - Fort Mill” fundraiser! Each day during the month of September, a different local company is the “Good Cookie of the Day.” The company choses to give a percentage of its profits for the day or a flat donation to Cookies for Kids' Cancer! Shutterfly has partnered with us again this year, and they will provide over 300 professional September calendars to promote the event! The companies receive advertising in the Fort Mill Times as the Good Cookie of the Day as well as on social media. Last year the event raised $35,000! The community really embraced the cause and was so eager to participate. My goal in 2014 is to top last year's numbers.

In addition to 30 Days for a Cure, I also love organizing bake sales throughout the year and encouraging others to be “Good Cookies” and help find a cure for childhood cancer. I am honored to be a Good Cookie Ambassador!
