How Sweet It Is! Nestle® Toll House® Cafe by Chip
Honors Chocolate Chip Morsel's 75th Anniversary

Popular bakery cafe's encourage customers to "Be a Good Cookie" and support pediatric cancer research through Cookies for Kids' Cancer

Sep 10, 2014

DALLAS, TX - As countless sweet-toothed fans rally to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the oh-so-mouthwatering chocolate chip morsel, Nestle® Toll House® Cafe by Chip is marking the occasion by giving back to its bravest customers in collaboration with the Cookies for Kids' Cancer organization.

The partnership, which will help fund essential research grants for five of the nation's leading pediatric cancer centers, will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 13 - National Childhood Cancer Awareness Day - and continue through Oct. 31

During this time, Nestle Toll House Cafes across the country will be accepting donations for Cookies for Kids' Cancer, a national nonprofit organization that helps fund the development of less toxic, more effective treatments for children battling cancer. In exchange for making a $1 donation, guests will receive a $1 coupon to be used on a subsequent visit to any Nestle Toll House Cafe. Supporters may also make direct donations to the charity at Nestle Cafe Good Cookies.

The popular bakery cafes have set a collective goal of raising $500 per location. If each cafe reaches its target, the campaign will raise more than $50,000.

"As we celebrate 75 years of helping families create warm memories with our trademark chocolate chip morsels, it's the perfect time for us to show how grateful we are for our biggest supporters - their children," said Ziad Dalal, founder and president of Nestle Toll House Cafe. "Those of us with kids understand all too well what it's like to worry about their health and well-being, even in the best of times. We hope everyone will stop by our cafes and make a donation to Cookies for Kids' Cancer, whether they purchase a treat or not. These special kids need our help, and this is a simple way for each of us to do our part."

Founded in 2008, Cookies for Kids' Cancer provides inspiration and support for individuals, businesses and organizations to raise money by hosting grassroots bake sales and other fundraising events. Since its beginning, nine new pediatric cancer treatments have been developed, according to Larry Witt, founder and president of the charitable organization.

"We are thrilled to partner with a company that knows more about the power of love and cookies than just about anyone on the planet," said Witt. "They say it takes a village to raise a child, and that certainly holds true when it comes to eradicating childhood cancer. Nestle Toll House Cafe is going above and beyond with this campaign and we couldn't be more grateful for their support."

Nestle Toll House Cafe is also celebrating the 75th anniversary with its "Toll House Tuesdays," in which cafes nationwide will offer 75-cent chocolate chip cookies from 2-5 p.m. every Tuesday from Sept. 16 through Oct. 28.

The premium dessert destination concept is built around the world's most powerful food brand - Nestle. Along with their universally loved Nestle Toll House cookies and cookie cakes, the cafes serve brownies, muffins, smoothies, ice creams, cold drinks and premium coffees. They are also a great lunch option thanks to their savory, made-to-order crepes, salads, wraps and Panini sandwiches.
