Diagnosis: Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
Story shared in April 2014
I hadn’t been feeling quite like myself. I was more fatigued than normal. It was a struggle for me to make it through school and soccer practice.
One day, after a soccer game, my parents noticed my body was covered in bruises and petechia. I was a goalkeeper, so I thought it was from diving on the ground day after day. I later learned it wasn’t.
My parents called our pediatrician who sent us to our local children’s hospital after blood tests revealed an abnormal number of white blood cells present. And so my
I was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After weighing all the treatment options available the decision was made, I would be
treated at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN by a pioneer in Leukemia research, Dr. Ching-Hong Pui.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of the staff at St. Jude I am in remission! This journey has been long and difficult but I have made the conscious choice to persevere, and
fight for my Forever Cure!
Aside from fighting cancer, I am a 7th grade student and a cancer advocate. Alongside my family, I share my story with purpose – Finding
