Melissa J. Rodriguez is the Executive Chef of Del Posto Restaurant. Located in Manhattan’s vibrant Meatpacking District, the restaurant received a four-star New York Times rating in 2010, and has been more recently honored with one Michelin star, a Relais & Chateaux distinction, a grand award from The Wine Spectator and five Mobile Diamonds.
Originally from New Jersey, Melissa began her culinary career at fourteen, when her older sister left for college and she started cooking for herself and her little sister, mainly because she was a picky eater. Eventually Melissa secured a position at a local restaurant as well, which is when her formal culinary education began. She is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, where she earned a degree in Culinary Arts in 1999.
After graduation, Melissa spent time cooking with Elaine Bell Catering and at Oceana under Chef Cornelius Gallagher. In 2006, Melissa took a line cook position at Daniel Boulud’s Restaurant Daniel, where she would become a sous chef. After a lengthy tenure with Daniel, Melissa joined the team at Del Posto in 2011 where she was promoted to Chef de Cuisine in 2015.
Melissa lives in Jersey City with her husband Garrett, and dreams of one day having a dog.
