Charlotte's 9th Annual CFKC Bake Sale

As many of you know, Grier Christenbury's battle with stage 4 Neuroblastoma ended on Nov.26,2013 at the young age of 9. His life had a positive impact on so many, and is evidenced by the incredible support of Charlotte's annual “Cookies for Kids' Cancer” bake sale. Each year since 2008, which was the very first "bake sale" in the Christenburys front yard, our community has come together to raise money and awareness for the number one disease killer of children in the US - childhood cancers.

The “Cookies for Kids' Cancer” bake sale, has grown every year, and is now considered one of the most successful efforts in raising both awareness and funds to support pediatric cancer research. This year will not be any different. Thankfully, the Sparks family joined us many years ago and heads up the Birkdale sale. Adam is 12 years old now and thriving after his many years of treatment for Neuroblastoma.  We need everyone to join us in this fight for children. It should not just be the families affected personally by this horrific disease. It should be all of US.

Since Grier died almost three years ago,  an average of 46 kids a day have been diagnosed with some form of childhood cancer.  Our family pledged to stay involved to honor his legacy and to continue to support the mission of “Cookies for Kids' Cancer” for all children battling cancer now and in the future. We know without funding for research, our progress toward a cure for childhood cancers cannot advance.

Since 2008, when Gretchen and Larry Witt founded Cookies for Kids’ Cancer - Cookies or CFKC - has funded more than four dozen childhood cancer research grants, resulting in nine promising new treatments in clinical trial phases and available to children today.  CFKC is led by a medical advisory board that guides the grant process to five of the nation’s leading pediatric cancer centers. They also match dollar-for-dollar, the federal allowance for every child enrolled in the children's oncology group phase 1 & pilot consortium. Charlotte's annual bake sale, along with more than 5,000 other events in all 50 states and in 16 countries worldwide, has helped make this happen.

This year marks Charlotte’s 9th Annual Cookies for Kids’ Cancer bake sale. The event will be held on December 10th at Blackhawk Hardware as well as Birkdale Village.

We are asking for a different kind of help this year.

Yes, We need the bakers and the baked goods BUT we also need YOU to make an online giving page and send  10-20 emails to friends and family who may not know about all the good that CFKC does for children EVERYWHERE. JOIN our team... HELP us raise $50,000- If we raise $50,000 it will be matched dollar for dollar by Bank of America. We have to do this for children and families everywhere hoping for less toxic treatments and more options for their children.

To Join our team... CLICK JOIN and set up your page. With you help, this 2016 bake sale will be the best ONE YET!!!

With HOPE,

Amy Christenbury
